Dr. Hawley Crippen proven innocent 99 years after he was hanged

A DNA test done by US scientists proved that the body found by authorities inside the home of Dr. Hawley Crippen contained male DNA.

The DNA discovery "proves he should be vindicated," British-Italian lawyer Giovanni Di Stefano told Canwest News Service in January, predicting that British officials eventually would have to comply with the Crippen family's petition to overturn the conviction after 99 years. "This family has been shamed long enough, and this man did not kill his wife."

Dr. Crippen was hanged in 1910 for murdering his wife.
