Sergey Tiviakov: “It’s very normal for a player to miss the closing ceremony. Last week at the Montreal International, a much stronger tournament, both Bacrot and Mazé had left earlier, which was no problem for the organizers.

The last time id read a controversial early bye was made in an international chess competition, was by GM Nakamura in World Open chess championship under United States Federation,Nakamura was then hustling to catch his Donestia chess festival tournament.

The difference with the world open is that it is an open event while the dutch championship is a closed one,But sergey is claiming he made prior arraignment with the organizer about his schedule.

This could have been an early bye if things don’t get out of hand, or Tiviakov is expecting guys like from Quebec chess federation to give him a break,Dutch championship and montreal internation chess championship are both close tournament.

Goin back to tiviakov argument that maze and bacrot was givin a chance by montreal organizer not to attend the closing ceremony.

yes!

tiviakov was right, the game of maze and bluvshtien was played at 12 noon last day of tournament as well as bacrot -kovalyov game when it is suppose to start at 2pm as it was scheduled as posted in the official site, maze versus bluvshtien was an early draw while bacrot-kovalyov was a hard fought draw, i witness it from first move to last move as i hang around the site and i smell something fishy why bacrot-kovalyov/maze bluvhstien game Was played before its proper schedule. Was the tournament game schedule re-arraigned to fit somebodys time? as it happen in montreal where nobody complained, everybody go home happy.

“On May 28th I spoke with Jan Stomphorst and Jeroen Bosch [Sports Director at the Dutch Chess Federation, PD], when I already informed them that I had confirmed my participation in Croatia. There and then, Stomphorst promised me that the Championship would be organized in such a way that I wouldn’t have to miss the Croatian league. Then, when I received the playing schedule of the Championship, I was of course very disappointed, as the federation didn’t fulfil their promise.”
