BODIES...The Exhibition

BODIES...The Exhibition

id been so tired playing chess lately, i’m so lazy  in studying my books, quite exciting is tal memorial tournament, but im tired of reading the quarrel among chess fans posted over the net.

I’d spent the good part of my day in the mall as well as watching the bodies exhibit at eaton place montreal. The number of people who watch is amazing, i consider it double the number of people who watch titanic artifact exhibition.

The exhibit is amazing,i feel so lucky to have experience it.

i'm back at gameknot.com

Its a bout a year since my account was suspended at gameknot. These after i violate the sites rule of making only one account, i just can't get enough games then, testing how serious the site in enforcing its policy i tried to make a double account, thing i regreat a lot and already ask apology in the past.

I once more get in contact with my past buddys, join there tournament and this time since im a paying member i could plat to the maximun of 50 games at the same time.
Choosing a 1 move per 10 day time allotment makes things easier.

to be familiar to game pattern im make sure to play the same opening in every 10 games i have, scotch as white and carokann as black.

I hope this could improve my chess.

Wesley So might get scholarship at texas tech!

I'll quote Mrs. Leny So kibitz at Wesley page at CG.

Thanks a lot for all the ideas and inputs for Wesley.
Aside from chess, I am
praying that he will finish his high school this year, pass the SAT exam so he
can be accepted for a scholarship in Texas Tech. I admired Carlsen Magnus too.
Hope Wesley can be like him in the future.

Prior to Mrs So kibitz, members of So page are actively discussing the possible move of Wesley with regard to his education, his goin into college. Here's WGM/Polgar comment on the topic especially about the Texas Tech scholarship.

Susan Polgar: Texas Tech scholarship would include tuition and housing expenses. Students will also be given the opportunity to make additional spending money by spending a few hours a week teaching chess at many local schools.
All our titled players are given the opportunity to compete in many strong tournaments throughout the year. In fact, we do pay for the expenses for the players to compete in some (not all) of these events. I also work with them personally.
My job is to dissect the players' game, then help them maximize their areas of strength, as well as improving areas of weaknesses.
If a player needs to represent their countries in various competition (national championships, Olympiad, world cup, etc.), they are free to do that. All they need is to make arrangements with their professors to make up the work / tests.
There have been many good examples of strong players doing both (Onischuk, Shulman, Dr. Kosashvili, Dr. Sherzer, and me, etc.)
I do not advocate strong players to give up chess for college. It is possible for serious players / students to do both.
Best wishes, Susan Polgar

I personally would support everything that could improve Wesley personal and professional life.Well wait for more info about these.

End game position of my game against Acrocorinthus at ICC.

2. -+ (-5.12): 1.Nxe3 fxe3[]
3. -+ (-5.12): 1.Ke4 e2

rybka analysis show an evaluation higher for the black when in fact the position is drawn.

i tried to ask my friend zanshin at chessgames.com about the position if what can he say about rybkas failure to identify the position as drawn.

here's what he got to say:

it's a draw despite the -2.0 evaluation, which I'm pretty sure is because of the material lead and advanced pawns. However, if you play through the moves, you will see that the lead never increases which means Black is not able to improve his position. It's because the White King just moves from e2 to d3 and back and the advanced pawns never get a chance to Queen. In fact, advanced pawns that cannot promote are a known weakness of engines.

In the evaluation i posted ,it only say 1.82 in favor of black at depth 14 but maybe zanshin analyze it with his engine in deeper mode for him to say rybkas analysis reach 2.0 in favor of black.

Rybkas weakness is that it can't identify position as this one as draw.

Montreal's pinoy community reaches out to typhoon victims back home

Letters were sent on Wednesday to community members urging them to donate, said Angelita Ogerio, president of the Federation of Filipino-Canadian Associations of Quebec.

The FFCAQ was one of several organizations pooling their resources to donate through the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, which has a branch in the Philippines.
A first shipment of goods will be sent Wednesday, Ogerio said, but it will take eight weeks to arrive at its destination.

The city of Montreal pledged $3,000 yesterday to help the Philippines and other countries of southeast Asia affected by the typhoon, while another $2,000 was donated by the borough of Côte des Neiges/ Notre Dame de Grâce, where 18 per cent of the population is Filipino.

fischers daughter to appear on tv

GM Eugene Torre and the Filipino common-law wife and child of the late Bobby
Fischer will appear in a documentary being filmed by BBC-HBO on the life of the
greatest chess player that ever pushed a pawn.

Torre , Marilyn and Jinky Young will provide the Philippine connection in Fischer’s
life starting with his early visits to the country in the early 70s to his romantic liaison
with Marilyn and the birth of Jinky in 2001. It was Torre who introduced Marilyn to the
late chess icon at the Baguio Golf and Country Club.

Wesley so

"Btw about our game earlier,it was a clear draw.In the final position,he played 18.Nxc8 (which was not shown in the relay) and offered a draw. After 18...Kxc8 19.Bxf7 hxg5 20.Rxh1,there's no point in continuing and besides we have 30 secs increment,so really no chance to flag him or anything"

As Wesley describe his last game at chessgames.com . I'm still personally hoping for Wesley to win all his remaining games.

Latest standing at Spice tournament,Wesley is a point away from the leaders.

Kasparov beats Karpov 6-2 in blitz match, what's hottest than this when it comes to chess discussion on chess websites right now?

I'm just happy to see Gazza push the wood again but was not surprised by Tolyas performance. We got the legends playing and thats the news but for chess sake theres nothing interesting in there game, i better observe at ICC a high profile blitz match with accompanying slur throwing on both GM.

Wesley So

"Yes I know I lack in middlegame, and probably manoevering/prophylactic.Still trying to know how to improve on that though."

Wesley chatting with his chess fan at chessgames.com wesley so page, humbly pointed the weaknesses in his game.

Wesley blew 2 game out of 3 and loss what could have been a drawn game.

This could have been 2.5 out of 3 performance at spice cup group A category, just amazing still considering wesley is working on his own with out having a benifit of a second or a coach.

Wesley So

Maturity of the game come with experience, this is Wesley first category 16 tournament and he is just doin fine Against GM Kuzubov.I am expecting that the raw and vicious talent of this young GM's will clash in successive rounds. Wesley came prepared with queenside opening line, this will help him become unpredictable in the course of the tournament, what is unfolding is a Wesley So transformation from a caterpillar into a beautifull monarch butterfly, it just dont sting, it poison.

Wesley welcome to the higher leaugue!

To all Wesley So chess fan!

Keep cheering!

Keep the drum beating!

Keep the spirit on!

Sergey Tiviakov: “It’s very normal for a player to miss the closing ceremony. Last week at the Montreal International, a much stronger tournament, both Bacrot and Mazé had left earlier, which was no problem for the organizers.

The last time id read a controversial early bye was made in an international chess competition, was by GM Nakamura in World Open chess championship under United States Federation,Nakamura was then hustling to catch his Donestia chess festival tournament.

The difference with the world open is that it is an open event while the dutch championship is a closed one,But sergey is claiming he made prior arraignment with the organizer about his schedule.

This could have been an early bye if things don’t get out of hand, or Tiviakov is expecting guys like from Quebec chess federation to give him a break,Dutch championship and montreal internation chess championship are both close tournament.

Goin back to tiviakov argument that maze and bacrot was givin a chance by montreal organizer not to attend the closing ceremony.

yes!

tiviakov was right, the game of maze and bluvshtien was played at 12 noon last day of tournament as well as bacrot -kovalyov game when it is suppose to start at 2pm as it was scheduled as posted in the official site, maze versus bluvshtien was an early draw while bacrot-kovalyov was a hard fought draw, i witness it from first move to last move as i hang around the site and i smell something fishy why bacrot-kovalyov/maze bluvhstien game Was played before its proper schedule. Was the tournament game schedule re-arraigned to fit somebodys time? as it happen in montreal where nobody complained, everybody go home happy.

foster as GM Wesley So

I was surprised to see that GM So is currently the top blitz playing GM of ICC as per www.cs.utu.fi.I chat with him in his wesley16 account at ICC  last night and verify if indeed foster is him and he confirmed to me that ,that was his incognito account, well, it is not an incognito account anymore.

I chatted with him some more about his spice cup tourney and told him to give deep respect about GM akobian playing style,Akobian who last few week played here in montreal showed that he is a tough player by beating GM Arkady Naiditsch in a stunning fashion.

GM anton kovalyov is living now in canada!
Montreals best!

Decisive game of round 11 at montreal international tournament 2009!

This game start at 12:30 pm 9/7/09.two hour ahead of the remaining 4 games. by the time naiditsch come in at the tournament hall AT 2 PM to play against GM bhat, he already see that bacrot is pressed on time and cant find a winning shot against the fast moving Anton kovalyov.

Naiditsch play for a win against GM bhat, there game grind slow.
i remember that move 22 where in GM bhat blundered, naiditsch must have said in his mind, this tournament is mine ,as he is pacing around the hall and monitoring the bacrot game on screen in between his moves, he know that bacrot is just fighting for a draw.

i write this as i witnessed it.

bacrot must be suffering from flu, he sneeze and blow his nose while this game is ongoing.

kovalyov move his pieces so fast that bacrot remaining time go down to few minute before move 40 while kovalyov still got an hour.i feel that anton kovalyov is in a winning mode here only the break did not come in.

had kovalyov win this tournament maybe he could get the attention of corus organizer.

Grandmaster Anton Kovalyov versus GM Itiene Bacrot at the final round.Kovalyov holding Bacrot to a draw is decisive , Naiditsch win this tournament by beating GM vhinay bhat in the last round!

I was around observing kovalyov and bacrot game, bacrot is obviously suffering from a flue considering his sneezing and nose blowing. This game start at 12:30 pm, by the time naiditsch came in at 2:00pm, this game is played mid game already, so naiditsch has an idea that bacrot is drawing his game and he needed to win his game against GM bhat in order to get the crown. GM Naiditsch and bhat game started at 2:00 pm.
